Cyprus is well-known for its beaches and its party scene, but whether or not you enjoy that hard-partying sort of lifestyle there are beaches for everyone on this beautiful island. In all, there are 57 blue flag beaches here! There are a variety of beaches, some busy, some unspoiled, tranquil and wild, some sandy and some made up of shingle and pebbles, many extremely picturesque. Here are a handful of beaches often included in lists of the best beaches in Cyprus:

One of the best beaches if you want a natural and unspoiled experience. Lara Bay is a wild sweep of gorgeous sand on the Akamas Peninsula. It can only be reached in a 4x4, by bicycle or on foot and could not be further from the crowded beaches found elsewhere on the island. There are no sunloungers or parasols here – this is a haven for green and loggerhead turtles and everything is kept natural. If you are interested in the turtles then you should contact the Cyprus Society for the Protection of Turtles who occasionally organise night time tours to watch the turtles coming ashore during egg-laying season.

With lots going on, this horse-shoe shaped bay has plenty going on, with sunbeds, beach bars, family-friendly cafés and restaurants, as well as a range of water sport activities. It has white sands and shallow, gentle waters and it is situated in a particularly scenic spot, which makes it all the more surprising that even in summer, while it does have a certain buzz about it, this beach does not get particularly over-crowded.
Konnos Bay, Cape Greco

This pretty, sheltered beach is just a mile east of Ayia Napa. It is close to the national forest and rugged coastline of Cape Greco. Konnos Bay is also a good place from which to set out on boat expeditions to explore the sea caves around the coast from here and there is plenty to do for families with older children.
Fig Tree Bay, Protaras

This well-known beach, one of Cyprus' most scenic, is a favourite with families. Young children will enjoy splashing about in the shallow, turquoise waters of the bay and playing on the soft sand. If you are a confident swimmer, you can head out from here to the little uninhabited islet that is easily reached across the shallow waters.
Pissouri Beach, Paphos

This beach is a great all-rounder. It offers a safe recreation zone for families, offers plenty of water sports and other activities, has a wide sweep of sand and crystal clear seas. For those in search of authenticity and culture, the nearby village of Pissouri retains its Cypriot character. There are a range of traditional tavernas and bars here to try.
While some of Cyprus' beaches are full of young men and women behaving rather badly, others are serene and natural or cheerful and family friendly, so come to Cyprus and find your own favourite beach. Which will your favourite spot be?
