The Soca gets off to a somewhat sluggish start in an edge of the Trenta Valley before proceeding with its quick excursion south through western Slovenia to the Adriatic Sea. Wear a wetsuit and cap, hop into an inflatable and, after a slow start, get ready for a few rushes as the river starts to gain energy. Elevated in character, the Soca has a typical shade. Not sure whether is it emerald green, cobalt blue or turquoise? You and your peer rafters are likely to have differences of opinion on the same.

The zone around Bohinj, an Alpine lake 4km long and about a kilometer diagonally across in Triglav National Park, is perfect territory for both routine cycling and mountain biking. The street along the lake's southern shore prompting the Savica Waterfall is beautiful and leveled. What's more, the most ideal approach to see the adjacent ancient towns of Stara Fuzina and Studor, with their old-style horse shelters and hayracks, is to explore them on wheels.

Getting to the highest point of Mt Triglav, at 2864m the most astounding crest in Slovenia's Julian Alps, has been a soul changing experience for Slovenes since the 19th century, and everybody is relied upon to climb old 'Three Heads' at least once. Last time anyone checked there were 20 distinct approaches to get to the top, yet the vast majority takes after the trail from the Pokljuka Plateau southwest of Bled. A pro-climber can make it all over in 12 hours, yet it is best advised to spend a night in one of the two mountain hovels found near to the summit.

If snow is the thing which excites you the most, you could not have been in a better place – Majority of Slovenes ski in the middle of December and March at the nation's more than two dozen ski grounds and resorts. The Krvavec ski centre is enticing; it’s very much developed and simply an hour upper east of the capital Ljubljana. In any case, it gets miserably swarmed at weekend.
